I am unashamedly and unapologetically a disruptor. As a solicitor (Non Practising), commercial director and former law firm CEO of a top 250 law firm , I believe I have a useful insight into what makes law firms tick and how to exploit the good bits and ditch the bad. My mantra is “What you do today, will determine your tomorrow’
I aim to help professional service firms make more money by changing the way they price their services ditching the hourly rate and embracing value based pricing. Doing so removes the artificial ceiling that firms place on their revenue by merely multiplying hourly rates by chargeable hours and actually recovering a price which reflects the VALUE delivered to their clients.
You may wonder why my business is called Big Yellow Penguin?
Firstly yellow penguins do exist but they are rare. Penguins also feature in John Kotter’s seminal work on change management “Our Iceberg is melting”, a book of which I am a great fan and, finally, I have been known to address conferences dressed as a penguin myself!

Mediation Zone
I have been helping people resolve disputes through mediation for over 20 years. I qualified as a mediator in 2001, when I first became involved in community mediation on a pro-bono basis primarily dealing with neighbour disputes and anti-social behaviour cases.
I have mediated numerous cases both as a solicitor acting for my own clients and as a mediator resolving disputes between others.
I bring experience to the table. I listen and allow parties to be heard. I am not a judge and I do not act like one. I mediate in an informal and relaxed manner. I am a firm believer that the parties control the process. I aim to be tough on the issues but soft on the parties. I strive to push the parties towards a settlement, after all, that is what I am getting paid for.
