About Jane
I am a Director and Child Care Solicitor at Duncan Lewis Solicitors in the Newcastle office, specialising in children, family, and domestic abuse law. I frequently represent parents and children involved in public law proceedings and pre-proceedings with local authorities, including complex care cases, deprivation of liberty, secure accommodation, adoption, fostering, and child protection matters.
I am a member of the Law Society Children Panel and have extensive experience representing children through Cafcass Guardians in both public and private law proceedings. Trained as a barrister, I am an experienced advocate who regularly appears in court, including in contested final hearings and fact-finding hearings. My expertise led to my shortlisting for Young Family Solicitor of the Year at the Family Law Awards in 2019.
I have a particular passion and specialist expertise in representing autistic and neurodivergent children and parents, as well as those with hidden disabilities, and I am a member of the firm’s specialist Autism and ADHD team. My practice also includes international and emergency work such as wardship and child abduction cases. I am committed to supporting vulnerable individuals through an empathetic, client-focused approach, supported by ongoing specialist training and experience as a community mediator.
