Will Aid, the charity Will writing campaign is now live and receiving enquiries from the public across the UK. Will Aid is the partnership between the legal profession and nine of the UK’s best-loved charities.

The initiative, which has been running for 35 years, sees participating solicitors waive their fee for writing basic Wills every November. Instead, they invite clients to make a voluntary donation to Will Aid – a suggested £100 for a single basic Will and £180 for a pair of basic ‘mirror’ Wills.

Now Will Aid are calling for more solicitors to join the campaign to meet demand for Will-writing services. It’s easy to sign up and get involved, solicitors can simply sign up on the Will Aid website to register interest in taking part, call the office on 0300 0300 013 or email enquiries@willaid.org.uk

On signing up, participating firms are listed on the Will Aid website and enquiries can start coming in immediately. Solicitors can organise their own diaries and can book clients in for Will Aid month in November or start seeing them right away. And if firms offer remote appointments, they can expand their reach nationally by joining the Remote List (this means they receive enquiries from across the UK from people with no Will Aid firms near them, as well as receiving local enquiries).

Will Aid offers solicitors the chance to expand their client base, opportunities to cross sell other products, raise their profile through positive PR and all whilst helping make a real difference to the work of the nine partner charities. Media support is also offered to participating solicitors to help them share their work with a wider audience.

Peter de Vena Franks, Campaign Director at Will Aid, said: “We are very grateful to all the solicitors who give their time to write Wills and all those that use the scheme to make their Wills and make a donation for their generous support. We really hope it is a win-win for all involved.

We have many solicitors who return year after year to support Will Aid because they know they are raising vital donations that help change lives, and that the campaign brings business benefits to their firms’ too.”

Solicitors have been raising money for some of the UK’s leading charities through Will Aid since 1988. In that time, over £24 million has been donated in donations, and many millions more in pledged charitable legacies. Simply by writing basic Wills, you are helping to raise thousands of pounds for charities including ActionAid, Age UK, British Red Cross, Christian Aid, NSPCC, Save the Children, Sightsavers, SCIAF and Trocaire.
